We all encounter grief throughout our lives, and because grief comes in all shapes and sizes, we will experience it in one form or another. When we are very young, up to the age of 12, we get a lot of grief from our families, teachers and in some cases from the person teaching us how to play an instrument.
From age 13 to 21 we have life altering grief from everything we do, or everything we don’t do!
Every age from here on has its own share of grief. Unfortunately, we Christians have the advantage of knowing that we don’t face grief alone. Our Lord and Savior is always with us.
All grief can be put into three stages or (categories).
Stage One – Before – example: Finding out that you or your loved one has a terminal condition (Cancer).
Stage Two – During – example: How do you or your loved one handle the final years, months, days, hours and sometimes minutes?
Questions:
Who handles the legal stuff?
Will and estate planning?
Funeral arrangements?
Arranging for Hospice and or palliative care?
Preparing ourselves and others for the loss of a loved one?
Stage Three – After – From total shock and disbelief to moving on.
Note: For stage three, please go to “The Moving On With Grief Program”.
The Grief Fighters Anonymous organization will be suppling the answers to these and all the questions you’ll need as you walk down that road called “Grief”.
